Description

Dental HARD PLASTER is typically used to create molds for dental applications including dentures and dental prostheses. Gyprock Dental Plaster is used as a quick setting, fine casting plaster designed for dental applications. HARD PLASTER is a powder when mixed with water, that hardens to form a stonelike investment or model material. It is composed of a hemihydrate of gypsum (CaSO. 4· 2H2O), which differs in compression strength and expansion coefficient according to how it is treated and rehydrated.

It is manufactured as a dry powder and is mixed with water to form a stiff but workable paste immediately before it is applied to the surface. Plaster of Paris sets in a very short period of time depending on the temperature of the mix and the air temperature. Typically, it can be de-molded in about 30 to 45 minutes. If it is cool to the touch it has at least set. But, the set time is not the same as cure time.

A high expansion crown and bridge die stone, formulated to produce a hard, glass-like surface. It has a high compressive strength that is non-brittle. It is the beta form of calcium sulfate hemihydrate ( CaSo4 . 1/2 H2O). Whereas, the dental stone is a calcined gypsum derivative similar to but stronger than plaster of Paris, used for making dental casts and dies.
